SoliCamp
What it does: A Basecamp playground to write, compile, deploy and test Solidity, then publish to Bedrock when ready
Stage: Prototype
Licence: MIT

SoliCamp is a Basecamp playground by bristinWild for Solidity, the language most Ethereum smart contracts are written in. It runs a local Solizone EVM chain, an Ethereum-compatible chain, inside Basecamp and shares rooms over Logos Messaging. It can publish its blocks to Bedrock, the base layer of the Logos Blockchain, through the Zone SDK, a toolkit for chains that run on Bedrock.

What it does

  • It comes as two packages: solizone_module, a Rust core module that runs the chain and compiler, and solicamp_ui, a native QML interface.
  • It compiles Solidity with a fixed version of the solc compiler, and a project can have several files and imports.
  • It deploys contracts to a local chain and calls any function from a panel built from the contract ABI, the description of its functions and their inputs.
  • Each room is its own chain, with its own chain id, files and history.
  • A room can be shared by invite, and guests replay and check every block over Logos Messaging. The README says this means the host cannot fake state.
  • Publishing to Bedrock is optional, off by default and paid from the Basecamp wallet. By the README's account, nothing is published and no fees are charged until the user presses Publish.

Stage: Prototype. The README says "Early and working." It also says "Independent project. Not an official Logos project."

Use it

  1. Build both packages with Nix, one in each of the two folders (see Build it).
  2. Install both packages in the Basecamp Package Manager. Uninstall old versions first when updating.
  3. Open SoliCamp.
  • The README does not name a Basecamp version. The build instructions are written for macOS, and RELEASING.md says only Apple Silicon has been tried.

Build it

  • It needs Nix. In each folder, git add -A && nix build .#lgx-portable builds the package. Nix only sees files that git tracks.
  • The core module README lists extra steps: fetch the Logos Rust SDK sources with logos-module-builder 0.3.2, sync the vendored Solizone EVM node and make the Cargo lockfile.
  • cargo test --lib in the rust-lib folder runs the unit tests.

Releases

No tags. The version in both metadata.json files is 0.1.0.
