Help wanted

From Local Area Network

This page lists writing the wiki needs. Pick one task. Most take under an hour, and you don't need anyone's permission to start. Every first piece gets a reply from a person within a day.

Already wrote about privacy, organizing or self-sufficiency somewhere else? You can republish it here under your name. See Republishing your own writing.

How it works

  1. Pick a task below and put your name after it, so nobody doubles up.
  2. Write it here on the wiki, or leave a link to your draft on this page's talk page.
  3. A named person replies within a day, with thanks and one comment on what you wrote.

Good first tasks

About 15 minutes each.

  • Fill in your Circle's page (Circles, about 10 minutes, for Stewards). Nobody else can say who your Circle is, what it stands for and how to join. Done looks like: the Introduction, Declaration and Join sections, a few sentences each. Start from your Circle's page under Circles, or see the example Circle page. Open.
  • Add a term to the Glossary (Ideas, about 15 minutes). Done looks like: one term, two or three plain sentences, and one link to a page that goes deeper. Open.
  • Republish something you already wrote (Takes or Library, about 15 minutes). Done looks like: your piece, your name, and a link to the original marked as the original. See Republishing your own writing. Open to anyone, any number of times.
  • Translate your Circle's Introduction (Circles, about 15 minutes, for Stewards). Done looks like: your Introduction in your own language, with one line in English. Open.

Bigger pieces

An hour or an evening.

  • Write the first myth on Takes/Myths (Takes, about an hour). The page has the format and no myths yet. Done looks like: one common claim about privacy, decentralisation or parallel institutions, answered in plain words, signed, with sources. Open.
  • Write a page for a privacy app you use (Tools, about an hour). Done looks like: what it does, how to install it, what it protects and what it doesn't. Check it meets the criteria for listing a tool and follow the layout of any page in Tools. Open.
  • Add a project you're part of (Projects, about 30 minutes). Done looks like: what it is, how to join, and a status line: active, getting started or needs restarting. Follow any page in Projects. Open.

Republishing your own writing

  • Your name goes on it, and it links to the original, marked as the original.
  • You keep ownership and can keep publishing it anywhere else.
  • Only your own work, or work you have permission to share.
  • Post it yourself, or leave the link on the talk page and someone will post it for you.

Recently finished

When a task is done, move it here with the writer's name.

  • Nothing yet.
