Help:How to edit
This page shows how to edit the wiki, starting with your own Circle's page. Every page can be edited. Nothing you save is lost: each page keeps its full history, so any change can be undone.
1. Make an account
Click Create account at the top right, or go to Special:CreateAccount. Pick a username. A pseudonym is fine, and it is the default here. You need an account to upload images.
2. Open the editor
- Edit at the top of a page opens the whole page.
- [edit] next to a heading opens only that section. This is easier on a long page.
The editor shows the page as text with a few marks, called wikitext. The next section covers the ones you need.
3. The marks you need
| You type | You get |
|---|---|
'''bold''' |
bold |
''italic'' |
italic |
[[Circles/Lisbon]] |
a link to another page on this wiki |
[[Circles/Lisbon|Lisbon]] |
the same link, showing the word Lisbon |
[https://luma.com/logosevents Luma] |
a link to another website, showing the word Luma |
* item at the start of a line |
a bullet list |
# item at the start of a line |
a numbered list |
== Heading == on its own line |
a section heading |
Leave an empty line between paragraphs. One line break alone does not start a new paragraph.
4. Fill in your Circle's page
Your Circle's page is called Circles/ and your city, for example Circles/Lisbon. Parallel Wiki/Example Circle page shows a page with every section filled in.
Yellow boxes. Each yellow box says what goes in that section. Write your text under the box. When you are done, delete the box line, which starts with {{Circle fill|.
The box on the right. It is the block at the very top of the page that starts with {{Infobox circle. Each line is one field, for example | meets = Monthly, first Wednesday. Leave out a line you do not use: a line with nothing after the equals sign can show up broken.
Members and roles. Add one person per row, by pseudonym, and only people who agreed to be listed. A new row looks like this:
|- | @your_name || Member || Welcome crew || Door-keeper
Rename roles and crews to the ones your Circle uses.
5. Add your logo
- Go to Special:Upload and choose the image file. PNG, GIF, JPG and WebP work. SVG does not.
- Name it after your Circle, for example Lisbon Circle logo.png, and upload.
- On your Circle's page, put the file name in the box:
| logo = Lisbon Circle logo.png. - Optional: add a short line under it with
| logo_caption =.
6. Save
- Click Show preview to check the page before saving.
- Write a few words in Summary saying what you changed.
- Click Save changes.
To undo a change, open View history at the top of the page, find the change, and click undo.
Rules
- Never post a home address.
- No faces in photos, and no real names, without that person's consent. Pseudonyms are the default.
- Do not link a real name to a pseudonym.
