Featured page

Parallel polis is the idea that people living under an oppressive regime can build their own institutions alongside the official ones. The Czech dissident Václav Benda set it out in 1978 in an essay for the signatories of Charter 77. He proposed parallel structures in culture, education, information, the economy and politics, to supply what the official order failed to provide. The essay first circulated as samizdat. The Circles handbook traces its idea of a parallel society to the parallel polis, and the Logos website calls Logos "the private-by-default technology stack for parallel societies". (Full page…)

-'''[[Circles/Katsina|Logos Circle / Katsina]]''' first met on 27 June 2026 in Katsina State, Nigeria. In its first three months it completed four winnable issues: free online medical consultations with [[WellCare Telemedics]], a three-week summer learning programme in maths and English, a diphtheria awareness campaign with vaccination support through Primary Health Care services, and a back-to-school project that paid school fees and uniforms for three pupils and supplied four primary schools in Daura. At its first meeting the Circle ranked water scarcity in Daura as the most pressing problem, and kept it as a long-term goal while it took on issues it could finish.
