The λPrize (Lambda Prize) is a Logos prize programme. It pays builders who independently make reusable open-source work for the Logos stack and show that others use it. The administrator is the Logos Collective Association, registered in Switzerland. The association sets the prizes, judges the claims and pays the winners.

How it works

  1. Pick a prize. Every prize is a file in the prizes folder, named LP-XXXX. Each file sets out the success criteria, scope and prize amount. Most open prizes also have an Adoption section.
  2. Build in public. Share your work on the Logos Discord, where #builder-hub is the main channel for builders. Look for people who will use it. The Logos Forum is the place for longer discussion.
  3. Get real use. Each prize lists adoption evidence, such as real third-party use, on-chain activity, or human and social validation.
  4. Claim it. Add a file to the solutions/ folder named after the prize, link your code, and open a pull request titled "Solution: LP-XXXX". Include the evidence for every adoption criterion. The reviewers will not take a headline number on trust.
  5. Get paid. After your solution is merged, file the payment issue on GitHub. Prizes are paid in USDT on Ethereum.

The first solution pull request that meets all the success and adoption criteria wins. A pull request is dated by when it was opened. Meeting the criteria without a pull request does not give you priority. There is one winner per prize unless the prize says otherwise.

The submission bar

Prizes are judged on a functionality gate plus adoption. Manual code review is not the main gate. The prize template sets these standard requirements, which each prize adapts:

  • No dependence on a central server. Use Logos Delivery for data and Logos Chat for peer-to-peer coordination.
  • A module or SDK other Logos modules can use.
  • A Basecamp app with local build instructions.
  • An interface description (IDL) for the LEZ program, made with the SPEL framework.
  • Deployed and tested on the LEZ devnet or testnet, with end-to-end tests in CI and CI green.
  • A README with deployment steps, program addresses and usage.
  • A demo script that works against a real local sequencer with RISC0_DEV_MODE=0, and a recorded video demo.
  • A FURPS self-assessment in the solution file.

Reviewers clone the repository and run the demo script from a clean environment. It must work without changes. They may also ask questions to check who wrote the code.

Rules

  • Up to 3 submissions per prize for each builder or team, and no more than one review a week.
  • First feedback is a simple pass or fail.
  • Code must be dual licensed under MIT and Apache 2.0.
  • Submissions are public.
  • Logos service providers and their contractors may not take part. They are also not counted towards adoption.
  • Logos has sole discretion over judging and awards.
  • To be paid you give your full legal name, country of residence and an Ethereum address. The address appears on the public GitHub issue, so the README suggests a single-use address if privacy matters.

New prizes can only be proposed by Logos service providers for now. The README says a process for community ideas is planned.

λPrize or RFP?

A λPrize is claimed after the work is built and in use. An RFP is a grant agreed before the work starts, based on a proposal. See RFPs.
