Receiver
What it does: Finds and plays decentralised Logos radio broadcasts over Logos Messaging, listen-only
Stage: Prototype
Licence: MIT or Apache-2.0
Verified on 4 November 2026 against README and v0.5.1.

Receiver is a listen-only radio module for Basecamp by xAlisher. It finds live radio stations over Logos Messaging and plays them over Tor, an anonymity network.

What it does

  • It subscribes to a public directory topic on Logos Messaging and lists live stations. Stations that stop announcing drop off the list after about 45 seconds.
  • It plays a chosen station through Tor, with a listener buffer to ride out Tor latency.
  • It can tune into a private, encrypted station from its title and passphrase alone.
  • It shows a station's signing fingerprint, so a listener can pin the right key.
  • It works with stations broadcast from Booth (booth-basecamp). The README says to pair it with booth-basecamp v0.2.4 or later.
  • The README says that since v0.3.0 the package carries its own playback helpers (ffplay, tor and privoxy), so a fresh install plays without extra system tools.
  • A settings panel holds the buffer size, a toggle that hides and clears the stream cache, and a button that stops leftover Tor listeners after a crash.

Stage: Prototype. The README opens with "This is a personal, experimental hobby project. It is not an official Logos product. Not audited."

Use it

  1. In Basecamp, open Settings, then Repositories, and add the catalogue URL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/xAlisher/logos-basecamp-modules/main/logos-repo.json.
  2. Go to Application, find xAlisher's Logos Modules, choose Receiver_ui and press Install. The delivery module comes in as a dependency.
  3. Fully quit and reopen Basecamp after installing.
  4. Open Receiver in the sidebar. Stations appear after about 10 to 15 seconds. Tap one to play. The first .onion play can take 10 to 30 seconds while Tor starts.
  • Signed packages for Linux (amd64) and macOS (arm64) are also on the v0.5.1 release page and install with the lgpm command line.
  • The README says the module is verified on Basecamp v0.2.0 on Linux and v0.2.1 on macOS, and that v0.4.3 and later find stations on Basecamp 0.3.x.
  • Installing tor, ffmpeg and a helper that routes playback through Tor (torsocks on Linux, privoxy on macOS) separately is optional since v0.3.0. The README gives the commands for Linux and macOS for anyone who wants to override the bundled helpers.

Build it

  • It builds with Nix: nix build .#lgx-portable makes the installable package.
  • nix build .#lgx makes a development variant, and nix run previews the interface on its own.
  • Building the macOS package needs an Apple Silicon Mac. The repository has a separate macOS build guide.
