LEZ Atomic Swaps
What it does: Swaps native Bitcoin and LEZ without a custodian, wrapped asset or bridge operator
Stage: Prototype
Licence: MIT OR Apache-2.0
Verified on 4 November 2026 against README and commit of 4 November 2026.

LEZ Atomic Swaps is a protocol and pair of Basecamp apps for swapping native Bitcoin and LEZ. It runs on the Logos Execution Zone (LEZ), the Logos layer that runs on-chain programs, and on Logos Messaging (Logos Delivery and Logos Chat). The code is published by the GitHub account gateway-fm. The README does not say whether it is an official Logos project. It was built for RFP-003, a Logos request for proposals. Its docs/implementation-plan.md names the RFP-003 specification in the logos-co/rfp repository as its source of truth. Release v0.1.1 is titled "RFP-003 M1, M3, and M6 source release".

What it does

  • It swaps native Bitcoin and LEZ with no custodian, wrapped asset or bridge operator. So far it runs on a local Bitcoin test network (regtest) and a private LEZ development network.
  • It uses Taproot and MuSig2 adaptor signatures on Bitcoin and a witnessed escrow on LEZ. An adaptor signature can only be completed with a secret value, and completing it reveals that value.
  • Makers publish signed offers over Logos Delivery. Takers negotiate in private over Logos Chat.
  • The LEZ claim reveals the value the Maker needs to finish the Bitcoin signature, so the swap completes without another Taker message.
  • If a swap stops, ordered refund windows let the second leg resolve before the first.
  • It ships two Basecamp apps, LEZ / BTC Maker and LEZ / BTC Taker, with Rust services, local chains and explorers.
  • Developers can write their own trading policy against a documented owner API.

Stage: Prototype. The README says "the private-local BTC/LEZ product path works end to end". It adds that "Public-network operation, production key management, and an independent cryptographic audit are still in progress."

Use it

The packaged stack targets arm64, including Apple Silicon and arm64 Linux, and needs Docker with Compose.

  1. Prebuilt: download the lez-swap-stack arm64 bundle from the latest release, unpack it and run ./scripts/start.sh.
  2. From source: clone the repository, go to deploy/ and run ./scripts/from-scratch.sh. The README says the first build takes hours. Later starts use ./scripts/up.sh.
  3. Open the Basecamp desktop over VNC at 127.0.0.1:5901. The README gives the default password and how to change it.
  4. In LEZ / BTC Maker, publish an offer. In LEZ / BTC Taker, take it and follow the steps: lock BTC, the Maker funds LEZ, claim LEZ, the Maker claims Bitcoin.
  5. To install the two apps in Basecamp's package manager, add the module catalogue URL given in the README.
  6. Stop the stack with ./scripts/down.sh.

Build it

  • ./scripts/from-scratch.sh in deploy/ builds from source.
  • cargo metadata --locked --no-deps shows the Rust workspace.
  • ./scripts/run-public-offline-e2e.sh runs the offline test suite in a Linux container with networking off.
  • CONTRIBUTING.md sets the rules for formatting, Clippy, licences and DCO (Developer Certificate of Origin) sign-off.

Releases

  • Latest tag: v0.2.6, 8 October 2026.
  • Version in metadata.json: 0.2.5, for both Basecamp apps (lez_atomic_swap_maker and lez_atomic_swap_taker).
  • GitHub lists nine releases, v0.1.1 to v0.2.6. The latest is v0.2.6.
