gapmap.uk is the UK Gap Map: a list of what is missing in the UK, what would fill each gap, and who is building it. It is an initiative of Logos Circle / London.

What it does

  • The map held 205 gaps across 18 domains when checked on 9 October 2026. One was in build and one had shipped.
  • Every gap has a resolver category:
    • Build now (55 gaps): no permission needed. A competent team could start today.
    • Build together (42 gaps): needs a willing partner such as a council, an NHS body, a union or a regulator. No new law is needed.
    • State-led (108 gaps): only the state can ship it. Evidence, prototypes and advocacy are still open to anyone.
  • Each gap carries an urgency rank from 0 to 5, scored on importance, tractability, neglectedness and window. Each also has a horizon tag: short (0 to 2 years), mid (2 to 7 years) or long (7 years or more).
  • Entries come from desk research against primary sources such as gov.uk, the ONS, the NAO, select committee reports and Law Commission papers. Each entry lists its sources and a review-by date.
  • The about page calls the current map v3, based on a July 2026 research pass. Interviews with 30 to 50 practitioners are the next phase, before a public v1.0.

Who runs it

  • It is a Logos Circle / London initiative. IP3 Studio built the site and maintains it.
  • LAN Issue 1 says it came out of twelve months of Circle meetings, smaller sessions and one-to-ones. Allies from the Anglofuturist movement took part.
  • The Circle says the work followed a House of Lords debate on decentralised and centralised identity.
  • It is modelled on gap-map.org by Convergent Research.

Join or copy it

  • Claim a gap with the site's 90-second wizard. You need no account, and the claim is posted publicly on GitHub.
  • Suggest a gap, national or local. Suggestions are checked against primary sources before they appear.
  • Correct an entry or discuss a gap on GitHub.
  • Copy it for your own country or city. The site says the material is "free to use, free to copy, free to improve." The datasets (gaps.json, domains.json, graph.json) can be downloaded from the site. The repository does not name a licence.
