The concepts behind a parallel society.

  • Parallel polis: Václav Benda's 1978 idea of building your own institutions alongside the official ones.
  • Samizdat: self-publishing of censored texts in the Soviet bloc, copied by hand and passed from reader to reader.
  • Exit: leaving a failing system rather than staying to change it, from Albert O. Hirschman's Exit, Voice, and Loyalty (1970).
  • PriFi: private finance, the Logos design philosophy for protecting every link of a transaction.
  • Cypherpunk: the movement that promotes strong cryptography and privacy technology for social and political change.
  • Commitment pooling: turning a community's promises of goods and services into vouchers held in shared pools.
  • Winnable issue: a clear, concrete local problem that a Logos Circle can act on and solve.
