Corey Petty is a security researcher and podcaster in the blockchain field. He is Chief Security Officer at Status. He wrote "The Transaction Supply Chain", which appears in LAN Issue 1 as Issue 1/Transaction Supply Chain.

Background

Petty holds a PhD in chemical physics and a BSc in physics, both from Texas Tech University. He began researching blockchains around 2012 as a hobby during his PhD. He later worked in data science and in security for industrial control (ICS/SCADA) networks. Earlier employers include Booz Allen Hamilton and Novetta. He became Chief Security Officer at Status in January 2020.

He co-founded The Bitcoin Podcast Network. He co-hosts Hashing It Out, a technical podcast on decentralised technology. Past guests include Vitalik Buterin and Dan Boneh.

The Transaction Supply Chain

His LAN article is Issue 1/Transaction Supply Chain. Logos has published a related article, "PriFi and the Incomplete Institution: Securing the Transaction Supply Chain" (15 September 2026). It argues that blockchains protect settlement well but leave the other stages of a transaction exposed, from discovery and negotiation to enforcement. See PriFi.
