The parallel society already exists. It is a food bank in Ibadan, a node running behind a hotel router in Prague, a permissionless school under a tree in Delhi, activists in Benin City raising money to pay for a member's health treatment, and a developer in Los Angeles compiling a messaging node from source.

== Function ==
LAN is the Logos movement's record of itself: what our activists are building, who they are helping, what they are running, what they are inspired by, and what they are learning on the way. It functions as a mirror: we collect the best of these experiences to create a shared image of ourselves.

A piece is fit for LAN if it:
* Highlights a win, a lesson, or a story from a Logos Circle, its activists or community.
* Showcases an improvement, update or novel use of Logos technology.
* Explains how relevant systems work: both those we are building and those we are exiting.
* Is a relevant development in the categories of parallel infrastructure, economy, education, action, or culture.
* Is on the cultural edge of technology, the internet, politics and philosophy.

== From the Editors ==
This publication takes direct inspiration from the seminal Whole Earth Catalog by Stewart Brand. Published between 1968 and 1972, it was a highly functional access-to-tools guide to empower individual autonomy in the face of big government, big business and other orthodoxies.

The WEC brought together co-curated products and ideas by and for a varied mix of innovators and iconoclasts — computer hackers, hippies, alternative designers, architects, builders and environmentalists who shared a countercultural view of learning, building, organizing and thinking.

This publication shares the same spirit: from a diverse crowd living in different geographies and working in different fields, a common vision emerges.
